Exclusive: Akpoborie Tasks Rohr On Cameroon Friendly

Former Nigerian midfielder, Jonathan Akpoborie has tasked the Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr to use Friday’s game against the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon as a platform to unearth players that will be useful for the team ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Recall that the German tactician invited some new players such as Terem Moffi, Peter Olayinka, Abraham Marcus, Valentine Ozonwafor, and Samson Tijani to the squad that will face Cameroon ON June 4 in Austria and Mexico on July 3 in the USA.

However, the former Wolfsburg star told that the German tactician should ensure some of the players are giving the opportunity to prove their worth in the friendly games.

Akpborie also insisted that he would be delighted to see the true potential of in form Lorient striker, Moffi and Peter Olayinka going by incredible season in Europe.

“I don’t think Rohr will be under pressure if he decides to use the new players he invited for the game against Cameroon because for me the purpose of the encounter is to unearth new stars that will give other players real competition in the Super Eagles.

“However, I would like to see the duo of Terem Moffi and Peter Olayinka in the Super Eagles line up against the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon based on their performance in the outgoing season in Europe.”
